
Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii was first isolated from lychee by Henri Boulard in 1923. It has been shown to resist gastric acid and protease hydrolysis, then reach high concentrations in the gastrointestinal tract and still remain active. With more than 300 publications, it is one of the most well-documented probiotics. The efficacy of Saccharomyces cerevisiae boulardii is mainly focused on preventing and reducing antibiotic-associated diarrhea; prevention of superinfection with Clostridium difficile, and help with the acute gastroenteritis in children, IBS, oral health and Anti-Helicobacter pylori, etc.
